It’s okay, I guess. The swivel and rubberized attachments feel a bit flimsy, and the nuts don’t sit snugly enough inside the rubber. They move around in their slots when tightened. In the end, too expensive for the quantity of materials you get.

We recently installed two pairs of TFR-280 fender holders, adding an extra TFR-402 rail mount and an extra TFR-403 parallel connector on each pair for additional stability. Our upper bow rail is 1.250” and our lower rail is 1”. The Polyform fender holder pages say the TFR-404 rail mounts will fit 1”-1.25” Rail Diameter… but they don’t. The included sleeve will only reduce the TFR-404 clamp diameter to 1-1/8” (one reason for this review). The wire baskets seem flimsy. The design for mounting and adjusting the hanging angles is reasonably elegant (ours are simply vertical), but the hardware doesn’t seem overly robust. Installing the baskets – with 17 screws and nuts for each fender pair – while adding thread locker when working over water makes it a two-person job. Using tape to temporarily capture the four main mounting nuts as suggested (hint: mandatory) works, but the tape provided with some of the hardware doesn’t work well (hint” use good painter’s tape instead). The screw heads have only a single straight slot (the main reason for this review), making it more difficult to engage the heads with a driver. A Torx head, or even a Phillips head would be far better, less irritating. The final outcome seems slightly sturdier than anticipated, but we can’t evaluate longevity yet.
The screws/bolts you provided were a combination of standard and metric. Standard for mounting the baskets to the brackets, and metric for putting the brackets togetherand mounting to the rail. To assemble these without locknuts is inviting trouble because of vibration......eventually leading to them loosening and possibly breaking because of the occasional violent shaking of the baskets and mounts in rough seas, and ongoing vibration and shaking even in the best of water. I had to go to two different marine stores the get the correct sizes. The 5 mm size was not plentiful, the reason for two stores. I would have expected locking nuts in your kit. Instead of getting both sides mounted last night, I mounted a couple of brackets and spent my time on the road chasing locknuts. I'm a former unlimited hydroplane mechanic (Atlas Van Lines), so I understand what vibration and pounding does to equipment. Chuck Marlin
Ordered the wrong baskets and reordered the 270 baskets. Waiting for them now.
It has been miserable. Getting the screws to connect to the nuts has been a HUGE issue. I spent over 1-2 hours on one nut and still can’t get it to connect. Very disappointing engineering on something that should be very simple.

I exactly what I was looking for! My railing is over an inch in diameter and most fender holders are for one inch. This works perfect, looks great, was easy to install, and I am very pleased!!
